Hours of Work: Approx. 5/6 hours at Home Games
Responsible to: Matchday Designated Safeguarding Officer
Location: Elland Road Stadium, Elland Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS11 0ES
Aim of Role: The Assistant Matchday Designated Safeguarding Officer will have responsibility for all safeguarding and welfare matters for anyone visiting the stadium on matchdays.
They will assist the Matchday Designated Safeguarding Officer manage a small team of Matchday safeguarding Officers and ensure they respond effectively and with empathy to all safeguarding concerns and apply our safeguarding policy and procedure and Equality Policy to safeguard all children and adults at risk.
To promote a positive safeguarding culture across the matchday team

Duties and responsibilities:
- To attend all home matches and ensure relevant support or assistance for children, young people and adults at risk is given where necessary.
- To attend the steward’s pre-match briefing prior to each home game to meet and liaise with all Stand Supervisors & Managers to discuss any special requirements needed for children, young people and adults at risk supporters throughout the day.
- To deputise for the Matchday Designated Safeguarding Officer where agreed with the Matchday Designated Safeguarding Officer or Head of Safeguarding & EDI
- To assist the Matchday Designated Safeguarding Officer manage the Matchday safeguarding team and ensure they communicate effectively to ensure the matchday experience is enjoyable and safe for our more vulnerable groups of supporters.
- To assist with managing the communications between the control room and safeguarding team on a matchday
- To take a proactive approach to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk to ensure all Matchday staff and volunteers understand their role in safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk.
- Report and record safeguarding and/or poor practice concerns in line with the Club Safeguarding Policy
- Use MyConcern to log safeguarding reports and actions
- Report to the Matchday Designated Safeguarding Officer on a matchday and provide appropriate staffing and responses to safeguarding incidents on a matchday
- To provide support and guidance to the Safeguarding Officers, EDI Lead and Disabled Liaison Officer on matchdays
- To undertake internal or external training as required for the role

Qualifications & Skills:
- Having attended safeguarding training and/or relevant experience in a safeguarding, or welfare role.
- FA children safeguarding certificate
- FA welfare officer certificate
- A child-centred approach
- Experience of working with children, young people and adults at risk
- Experience of applying safeguarding policy and procedures
