We have a great opportunity for a Senior Medical Officer: Venues, Events & Emergency Care - 4 days per week

You will:

  • Provide leadership in the design and implementation of medical services at FA venues and events, underpinned by a sustainable clinical governance and staffing model.
  • Ensure medical expertise in the planning of competitions, tournaments, and leadership of medical services during their delivery.
  • Act as key liaison individual in emergency medical planning across the FA Group, including liaison and leadership within statutory bodies and associated sporting governing bodies.
  • Provide strategic input and expert advice for emergency and venue related medical issues related to FA group business and operations planning

 

What will you be doing?

  • Oversee clinical governance for events held at Wembley Stadium and to ensure best clinical practice is being delivered.
  • Support and monitor clinical practice and establish a working environment of development and enhancing practice to ensure excellence.
  • Implement changing clinical practice across the FA group linked to prehospital care within teams and venues to ensure the FA remains ahead in terms of clinical quality.
  • Support the medical teams with the delivery of events, tournaments and football business.
  • Liaise with FA colleagues and venues in relation to the oversight of England games played across England.
  • Act as the senior medical officer and primary physician (Consultant grade) for the majority of major events held at Wembley Stadium.
  • Develop education and training in partnership with the medical operations team to ensure excellence and safety in event medicine and on field care.
  • Drive research and progression, challenging 'normal' to ensure improvement and development for the future.
  • Implement effective strategies to ensure integration of NHS and Private Healthcare linked to football and event matters.
  • Responsible for the management and evaluation of a minimum of two clinical governance days a year at Wembley Stadium ensuring multi-disciplinary representation.
  • Work jointly with the medical operations team to lead and coordinate customer centred care across all stadium events.
  • To be an ambassador for Wembley stadium and the FA, displaying the organisation's core values and professionalism in all engagements.
  • Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group's changing priorities.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and well-being can be maintained.
  • As part of The FA's commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone in football, every employee will be required to complete a DBS check. The level of the check required will be based on the activity of the specific job role and in line with legislation and government guidance.

 

What are we looking for?

 

Essential for the role:

  • Consultant-level doctor: Registered Medical Practitioner on GMC Specialty register for an acute care specialty Emergency Medicine or Pre-Hospital Care
  • Experience in managing a multi-disciplinary medical team at major stadia / events (including provision of care for elite athletes in professional sporting arenas)
  • Experience in Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine
  • Experience in policy development and service design (either within, or external to, the NHS)
  • Knowledge of the relevant legislation around medical care for sport's grounds and mass events (either through service delivery experience or specific CPD)
  • Experienced team leader
  • Established non-clinical healthcare management portfolio (either within, or external to, the NHS)

 

Beneficial to have:

  • Training and education experience (either in sport or emergency care)
  • Experience of business model planning (such as clinical leadership in service development or clinical research)
  • Participation in stadium / event facility / professional sports organisation safety advisory or medical advisory groups
